Frequently Asked Questions

What does going private mean?
Going Private means that we will no longer accept or promote tee times for ‘daily fee' play once we meet our membership targets.  As with most private golf courses, we will still have some ‘non-member' revenue streams.  These will include outside tournaments and events as well as business referred from our third party resellers such as the Niagara Golf Trail, Golfnow.com and Niagara Golf & Wine Vacations.  The business from these sources is carefully controlled so as not to interfere with member golf.

How many members do we need before we go completely private?
At this point it is difficult to determine the exact number of members required to go completely private.  This will be determined based on the mix between Founding and Full Members, the amount of golf the average member plays and availability on the golf course.  Our current target is approximately 600 members.

Is there an Entrance Fee in the Full Membership Category?
No there is currently NO Entrance Fee in the Full Membership Category. Furthermore, if the decision is made by LochNess Links in the future to add an Entrance Fee to the Full Membership Category, all members who joined the club under the Full Membership Category before the Entrance Fee was established would not be required to pay it.

Will there be a clubhouse spending minimum?
No. There is no plan to implement a clubhouse minimum at this time.

Will there be Assessments?
No. LochNess Links Golf Course members will not be subject to assessments.  As a member you are only expected to pay your annual dues by February 1st as established from year to year.

What is the duty of the Board of Directors?
The duty of the LochNess Links Golf Association Board of Directors is to design and run all member tournaments leagues and social events and to advise LochNess Links Golf Course on member affairs.

Will the restaurant still be open to the public?
Yes. Swing Restaurant will remain open to the public.  Many community members and local residents who are not golfers are valued and loyal customers at Swing.  We have no intention of excluding customers from the restaurant. Furthermore, traffic through the restaurant gives us the opportunity to showcase our facility to prospective members in the community.
